Recipe scaling uses a serving ratio, then keeps the ingredient unit visible. Cooking chemistry, pan size, heat, texture, and safety can require adjustments beyond linear arithmetic.

Can a recipe always be scaled linearly?

Many ingredient quantities can be scaled as a ratio, but baking chemistry, pan size, cooking time, and ingredient-specific limits may require separate judgment.

Does the recipe tool convert units?

No. It keeps the original ingredient unit visible and changes only the quantity by the serving ratio.
