Formula and methodology
Formula: Lawn area = length × width; piece area = piece length × piece width; order area = lawn area × (1 + waste percentage); pieces to order = ceiling(order area ÷ piece area); cost = pieces × price per piece.
The calculator separates measured area from the extra material needed for trimming and irregular edges. It uses the supplier’s entered piece dimensions instead of assuming one product size, pallet coverage, grass type, or local pricing.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- Lawn and sod dimensions use the same selected unit and describe rectangular areas for this calculation.
- Irregular lawns should be divided into simple shapes and their areas added before entry.
- Waste is an entered planning allowance for cuts, seams, damaged pieces, and shape uncertainty.
- Pieces are rounded up because a fractional physical piece cannot be ordered as one complete piece.
