Formula and methodology
Formula: Fresh snow depth = liquid-equivalent depth × snow-to-liquid ratio. Settled depth = fresh depth × (1 − settling percentage ÷ 100). Millimetres are converted to centimetres by dividing by 10 and to inches by dividing by 25.4.
