Formula and methodology
Formula: Total caffeine = cups × caffeine per cup; total sugar = cups × sugar per cup; milk calories = cups × milk mL per cup × milk kcal per 100 mL ÷ 100; total drink calories = cups × base coffee calories + milk calories + cups × creamer calories + total sugar × sugar calories per gram.
The word healthy should not hide a score or a universal rule. This calculator instead separates the measurable parts of a coffee recipe, allowing a visitor to compare a label or home recipe without turning the output into medical advice.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Cups per day — cups; minimum 0; maximum 100
- Caffeine per cup — mg; minimum 0; maximum 2000
- Added sugar per cup — g; minimum 0; maximum 500
- Milk per cup — mL; minimum 0; maximum 2000
- Milk calories per 100 mL — kcal/100 mL; minimum 0; maximum 1000

Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Cups per day | 3 |
| Caffeine per cup | 95 |
| Added sugar per cup | 8 |
| Milk per cup | 30 |
| Milk calories per 100 mL | 50 |
| Creamer calories per cup | 10 |
| Sugar calories per gram | 4 |
| Coffee calories before add-ons | 2 |
| Daily caffeine comparison limit | 400 |
Three cups contain 285 mg caffeine and 24 g added sugar; the modeled drink total is 177 kcal, leaving 115 mg against the entered caffeine comparison limit.
Assumptions and limits
- Every per-cup value is applied to the entered number of cups.
- Caffeine and calorie values should come from the actual product label or a documented recipe.
- Milk calories use the entered value per 100 mL and assume the entered volume is consumed.
- Sugar calories use a visitor-entered energy factor so a different label convention can be documented.
- The page does not estimate protein, fat, micronutrients, glycemic response, or the effect of coffee preparation on health.
- The daily caffeine field is a comparison limit, not a personal medical recommendation.
- Black coffee can still have a product-specific calorie and caffeine value; do not assume zero unless the label supports it.
