A palindrome date is a pattern in a chosen sequence of digits, not a universal property of a calendar date. This page checks the selected order, keeps leading zeroes, validates real Gregorian dates, and searches forward when a visitor wants the next match.
A string is a palindrome when it reads the same from left to right and right to left. The date 2001-10-02 becomes 20011002 in YYYYMMDD order, which is symmetric.
The same calendar date produces different digit orders in YYYYMMDD, MMDDYYYY, and DDMMYYYY formats. A date can be palindromic in one convention and not in another, so the format belongs in the answer.
For 2001-10-02 in YYYYMMDD order, remove separators to get 20011002. Reading the digits backward gives 20011002 again, so the checker marks it as a palindrome.
The forward search adds one calendar day at a time, formats the valid date, and compares the digits. It never accepts an impossible date simply because its characters look symmetric.
Month and day fields remain two digits. Removing a leading zero would change the string length and create a different convention, so the interface keeps the padding visible.
