Formula and methodology
Formula: Vout = Vs R2 / (R1 + R2); I = Vs / (R1 + R2).
The unloaded voltage-divider relation gives the voltage across the lower resistor in a two-resistor series chain. Connecting a load changes the lower-leg resistance and therefore changes the result.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
