Formula and methodology
Formula: Uptime=period−downtime; availability=uptime/period×100; annualized downtime=(downtime/period)×8,760; MTTR=downtime/incidents when incidents>0.
The calculator separates the observed service window from the downtime recorded inside it. Annualized downtime is a proportional scenario based on the entered availability, not a forecast of future incidents or a jurisdiction-specific service-level commitment.

Assumptions and limits
- The measurement period and downtime use the same time unit and downtime cannot exceed the period.
- An incident count of zero leaves mean downtime per incident as not applicable rather than dividing by zero.
- The 8,760-hour year is a common 365-day planning year; leap-year reporting can use a separate period.
- Maintenance definitions, exclusions, monitoring gaps, customer impact, and SLA legal language are not inferred.
