Formula and methodology
Formula: Peak week = current weekly hours × (1 + progression rate)^build weeks. Taper target = peak week × (1 − taper reduction). Build total uses a geometric sum; taper total uses the average of peak and target weeks.
This is a transparent planning worksheet for workload arithmetic. It does not decide how hours should be divided among swim, bike, run, intensity, strength, rest, or recovery, and it does not prescribe a safe plan for a particular athlete.

A 10-hour base with 5% weekly growth reaches about 12.16 hours at peak; a 30% two-week taper target is about 8.51 hours.
Assumptions and limits
- Current weekly training is a recent representative average, not a one-off maximum.
- Progression is applied once per build week using geometric growth.
- The taper is represented by a straight-line average from peak to target week.
- Sessions per week divides hours evenly only for a rough per-session screen.
- No intensity, sport distribution, injury history, sleep, age, life stress, or recovery data are modelled.
- A zero-week build or taper is permitted and has a clearly defined total.
- The output is planning arithmetic, not medical advice or a coach's individualized prescription.
