Formula and methodology
Formula: projected target time=reference time×(target distance/reference distance)^1.06; training time=projected time/(effort/100).
The calculator combines a race-equivalency projection with an explicit effort multiplier. A lower effort percentage produces a slower planned pace; it is a scenario aid, not a prescribed workout.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Reference distance — km; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 10000
- Reference time — minutes; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
- Target workout distance — km; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 10000
- Target effort relative to projection — %; minimum 50; maximum 120
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Reference distance | 5 |
| Reference time | 25 |
| Target workout distance | 8 |
| Target effort relative to projection | 90 |
The 8 km scenario is about 45.72 minutes, or 5.71 minutes per km.
Assumptions and limits
- Distances are in kilometres and time is in minutes.
- The exponent 1.06 is a fixed comparison model in this page.
- Effort percentage describes the scenario relative to the projection and does not measure exertion.
