Formula and methodology
Formula: Frames=ceil(target clip seconds×playback fps); actual clip=frames/playback fps; capture duration=frames×interval; speed-up=interval×playback fps.
The tool separates the final playback rate from the real-world interval between photographs. It rounds up to a whole frame count and reports the resulting clip length, so a visitor can see the small difference introduced by frame quantization.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Capture 900 frames over 9,000 seconds (2.5 hours) for a 30-second clip, a 300× speed-up.
Assumptions and limits
- Every captured frame is retained and played once at the entered constant frame rate.
- The capture interval is measured from one frame to the next and excludes setup, battery changes, storage limits, and missed frames.
- A whole-frame ceiling is used so the produced clip is at least the requested target duration.
- Motion blur, exposure, flicker, camera movement, weather, and editing are outside this arithmetic model.
