Formula and methodology
Formula: Total shares = sharesA + sharesB; total cost = sharesA×priceA + sharesB×priceB + fees; average cost/share = total cost/total shares; unrealized change = current value − total cost.
This worksheet combines two purchases into one transparent weighted average. Fees are added to acquisition cost once, the total cost is divided by the combined shares, and an entered current price produces a mechanical position value and unrealized change. It is not a tax-lot engine: holding periods, wash-sale rules, dividends, currency conversion, partial fills, and jurisdiction-specific cost-basis rules are outside the contract.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

| Input | Value |
|---|---|

The position has 150 shares, total acquisition cost 8,275, average cost about 55.1667 per share, current value 10,500, and unrealized change 2,225.
Assumptions and limits
- Both purchases represent the same instrument and use the same currency and share definition.
- Transaction fees are entered as a total acquisition cost and are not charged again at sale.
- The current price is a user-supplied snapshot rather than a live quote.
- All shares are treated as fungible for this average-cost worksheet.
- Unrealized change excludes dividends, taxes, later fees, currency movement, and corporate actions.
- A real tax return or broker statement may require lot-level accounting under local rules.
