Formula and methodology
Formula: Volume per tube = π(d/2)²h; total volume = volume per tube×count; order volume = total×(1+waste/100); bags = ceiling(order volume in liters ÷ bag yield).
The calculator treats each form as a cylindrical void and keeps product yield as an entered label value. It is useful for a first material estimate, while the actual excavation, reinforcement, bearing, frost depth, concrete specification, and placement method require local design review.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Inside tube diameter — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
- Concrete depth per tube — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
- Number of tubes — minimum 1; maximum 1000000
- Extra allowance — %; minimum 0; maximum 1000
- Concrete yield per bag — L/bag; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Inside tube diameter | 0.3 |
| Concrete depth per tube | 2.4 |
| Number of tubes | 6 |
| Extra allowance | 10 |
| Concrete yield per bag | 20 |
Six tubes require about 1.018 m³ geometrically; with 10% allowance order about 1,120 L, or 56 bags at a 20 L yield.
Assumptions and limits
- The entered diameter is the inside diameter occupied by concrete and every tube has the same depth.
- Bag yield is the usable concrete volume printed for the selected product, and the extra allowance is applied after the geometric volume is calculated.
- Footing size, soil bearing, reinforcement, embedment, settlement, form support, pumping, slump, and local structural requirements are not modeled.
