Formula and methodology
Formula: Total bases = singles + 2*doubles + 3*triples + 4*home runs; SLG = total bases / at-bats.
Slugging percentage weights each hit by the number of bases gained before dividing by at-bats. It is a power-oriented rate, not the fraction of plate appearances that become hits.
