Formula and methodology
Formula: Per-batch salt = flour amount × salt parts ÷ flour parts; per-batch water = flour amount × water parts ÷ flour parts; multiply each ingredient by batch count; combined measure = flour + salt + water.
Salt dough is a craft mixture, so the important arithmetic is ratio scaling rather than a claim that one recipe behaves identically with every flour, humidity, or measuring method. Use the same unit for flour, salt, and water, then adjust the finished dough by texture during mixing.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Flour amount per batch — same measure; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Flour parts in ratio — parts; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Salt parts in ratio — parts; minimum 0; maximum 1000000
- Water parts in ratio — parts; minimum 0; maximum 1000000
- Number of batches — minimum 1; maximum 1000000
- Measure label for output — 3 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Flour amount per batch | 2 |
| Flour parts in ratio | 2 |
| Salt parts in ratio | 1 |
| Water parts in ratio | 1 |
| Number of batches | 3 |
| Measure label for output | cups |
Three batches use 6 cups of flour, 3 cups of salt, and 3 cups of water under the entered 2:1:1 ratio.
Assumptions and limits
- Flour, salt, and water are measured consistently using the same unit or ratio basis.
- The default 2:1:1 flour-to-salt-to-water ratio is a starting recipe, not a universal requirement.
- Batch count multiplies every ingredient equally.
- The calculator does not convert cups to grams because ingredient density and packing change the result.
- This is a craft recipe model and is not a food recipe or a recommendation to eat the dough.
- Keep the mixture away from children or pets who may ingest it, and follow the drying or baking instructions for the specific craft activity.
