Formula and methodology
Formula: Raw score=mean+z·standard deviation; deviation from mean=z·standard deviation.
The conversion reverses standardization and keeps the scale, center, and distance contribution visible.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Mean — minimum -1000000000000; maximum 1000000000000
- Standard deviation — minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000000000
- z-score — minimum -100; maximum 100
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Mean | 100 |
| Standard deviation | 15 |
| z-score | 2 |
Deviation = 30; raw score = 130.
Assumptions and limits
- The z-score and standard deviation use the same reference distribution.
- A z-score describes relative position but does not prove the distribution is normal.
- The result is a scale conversion, not a percentile unless a distribution model is also specified.
