Formula and methodology
Formula: A Pythagorean triple is a positive integer tuple (a, b, c) with a < b and a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
The enumerator checks bounded integer legs and returns triples whose hypotenuse does not exceed the selected limit. Primitive mode keeps only triples with greatest common divisor 1.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Maximum hypotenuse — units; minimum 5; maximum 500
- Triple set — 2 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum hypotenuse | 30 |
| Triple set | all |
There are 11 triples with hypotenuse at most 30.
Assumptions and limits
- The side lengths are positive integers in one common unit.
- The limit applies to the hypotenuse, not independently to each leg.
- This is an enumeration of bounded triples, not a generator for all unbounded integer solutions.
