Formula and methodology
Formula: Daily rent = full-period rent ÷ days in period; prorated rent = daily rent × days charged.
This calculator uses an actual-day convention: the user supplies the billing period's day count and the number of days charged. That makes the arithmetic easy to audit for a move-in, move-out, short occupancy period, or other partial billing interval while leaving lease-specific date rules visible rather than guessing them.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Full-period rent — currency units; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000000000
- Days in billing period — days; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 366
- Days charged — days; minimum 0; maximum 366
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Full-period rent | 2000 |
| Days in billing period | 30 |
| Days charged | 15 |
The daily rate is 66.6667 currency units and the prorated charge is 1,000 currency units.
Assumptions and limits
- The selected day count matches the billing period and the user's lease or policy convention.
- Days charged are counted according to the user's chosen inclusive or exclusive date rule before entering them.
- The tool does not interpret a lease, local rent regulation, rounding policy, deposit, utility charge, or payment due date.
