Formula and methodology
Formula: Throw ratio=throw distance ÷ image width; image width=throw distance ÷ throw ratio; height=width×aspect height/aspect width.
The calculator keeps the optical throw-ratio convention visible and then applies the chosen aspect ratio to the rectangular image. A real projector’s lens range, zoom, focus, lens shift, mounting clearance, and screen border still need separate checking.

Assumptions and limits
- Throw distance and image dimensions use metres, while the inch diagonal is a direct conversion.
- Throw ratio is supplied for the actual lens and is defined as distance divided by image width.
- The projected image is treated as a flat rectangle with the entered aspect ratio.
- Brightness, resolution, keystone, lens shift, zoom limits, throw obstacles, and manufacturer installation requirements are not inferred.
