Formula and methodology
Formula: Additional CO₂ volumes = target volumes−residual volumes; priming sugar = batch volume×additional volumes×entered sugar factor.
The calculator keeps the carbonation conversion factor visible instead of hiding a yeast, temperature, sugar-type, or packaging assumption. Enter a factor appropriate to the chosen sugar and brewing reference, then inspect the resulting total grams and grams per litre.

Assumptions and limits
- The batch volume is the volume that will actually receive the priming sugar and the entered residual carbonation is already expressed in volumes of CO₂.
- The sugar factor is a user-supplied conversion convention; sugar type, temperature, fermentability, and measurement uncertainty are not guessed.
- Target carbonation must be at least the residual carbonation in this one-direction addition model.
- This is arithmetic for planning and does not assess fermentation completion, pressure-vessel safety, sanitation, or beverage quality.
