Formula and methodology
Formula: Repeatedly divide by the smallest available prime factor until the remaining quotient is 1.
The output lists repeated factors, so 360 becomes 2² × 3² × 5 as well as the expanded factor list.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Whole number — Enter an integer from 2 through 1,000,000,000,000.
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Whole number | 360 |
Prime factors = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 = 2³ × 3² × 5.
Assumptions and limits
- The input is a positive integer from 2 through 10¹².
- The factorization is exact; no floating-point approximation is used.
- The result describes arithmetic factors, not a cryptographic prime test.
