Formula and methodology
Formula: A ceiling binds when Pc < Pe; quantity gap = Qd(Pc) - Qs(Pc).
A price ceiling below the equilibrium price is binding. At the entered ceiling quantities, positive quantity gap means a shortage and negative quantity gap means a surplus.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Equilibrium price — Market-clearing reference price.; minimum 0; maximum 1000000000000
- Price ceiling — Maximum allowed price in the sketch.; minimum 0; maximum 1000000000000
