Formula and methodology
Formula: S = VᵣₘₛIᵣₘₛ; PF = P/S; Q = √(S²−P²).
The AC power triangle separates real power from apparent power and calculates reactive power and the corresponding magnitude of phase angle.

- Voltage and current are RMS magnitudes for the same AC load and real power is nonnegative.
- The model uses sinusoidal power-triangle relationships; waveform distortion, harmonics, unbalanced phases, and measurement uncertainty are not modeled.
- The result does not size conductors, breakers, correction capacitors, or utility equipment.
