Formula and methodology
Formula: Porosity φ = void volume/bulk volume; idealized permeability k = d²φ³/[C(1−φ)²], with grain diameter d in metres.
Porosity describes how much of the bulk sample is void. The permeability result is a transparent grain-size correlation, useful for comparison but not a substitute for core testing or a formation-specific model.
