Formula and methodology
Formula: EV = P(win)·P₀ + P(tie)·(P₀−C)/2 − P(loss)·C, where P₀ is the pot before calling and C is the call cost.
Expected value weights each possible result by its probability. If the call wins, the net gain is the pot already present; if it ties, the returned share is split; if it loses, the call cost is lost. The result uses generic units so it can be applied to chips or another clearly defined stake.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- Win, tie, and loss probabilities are mutually exclusive and must sum to 100% or less; the remainder is the loss probability.
- The pot input excludes your call and the tie result splits the final pot evenly between two players.
- Rake, side pots, multiway ties, tournament utility, bankroll risk, and opponent modeling are not included.
