Formula and methodology
Formula: Planned slices = ceil(guests×slices per guest×(1+extra/100)); whole pizzas = ceil(planned slices/slices per pizza); served slices = whole pizzas×slices per pizza; remainder = served slices−planned slices.
This event-planning tool is intentionally separate from the existing pizza-area calculator. It answers a serving-count question, rounds up to whole pizzas, and shows how many slices the rounded order represents.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Guests — people; minimum 1; maximum 1000000
- Slices per guest — slices; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000
- Slices per pizza — slices; minimum 1; maximum 1000
- Extra slice allowance — %; minimum 0; maximum 1000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Guests | 12 |
| Slices per guest | 2 |
| Slices per pizza | 8 |
| Extra slice allowance | 10 |
Plan for 27 slices, order 4 pizzas, receive 32 slices, and have 5 slices above the planned target.
Assumptions and limits
- The entered slices per pizza describes the product or cut pattern being ordered.
- Guests receive an average portion and the extra percentage is a planning allowance, not a nutrition recommendation.
- Pizza size, crust thickness, toppings, side dishes, age, appetite, and leftovers preference are not inferred.
- The output is a purchasing estimate and does not model delivery minimums, discounts, or local menu conventions.
