Formula and methodology
Formula: Inside diameter = outside diameter − 2 × wall thickness; wall volume = π/4 × (outside diameter² − inside diameter²) × length × count; mass = volume × density.
The hollow-section geometry makes the wall thickness visible and prevents treating a pipe as a solid cylinder.
