Formula and methodology
Formula: Disposable monthly cost = periods × (units × unit price + other disposable cost). Reusable monthly equivalent = upfront cost ÷ service life + periods × care cost. Monthly saving = disposable monthly cost − reusable monthly equivalent; break-even months = upfront cost ÷ (disposable monthly cost − monthly care cost) when the denominator is positive.
