Formula and methodology
Formula: Amount = base * percentage / 100; increased value = base + amount; decreased value = base - amount.
Percent means per hundred. Convert the entered percentage to a decimal multiplier and apply it to the base. The added and subtracted results use that same original base, not successive percentage changes.
