Formula and methodology
Formula: P/E = share price ÷ earnings per share; PEG = P/E ÷ annual earnings growth percentage, where growth is entered as a whole percent such as 20 for 20%.
PEG is shown as a mechanical extension of the entered P/E multiple and growth assumption. The growth input remains a whole percentage in the denominator by convention, so 20 means 20 rather than 0.20. The page does not treat a PEG value as a buy, sell, or fair-value rule.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Share price — currency units per share; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000000000
- Earnings per share — currency units per share; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000000000
- Annual earnings growth — percent per year; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Share price | 120 |
| Earnings per share | 6 |
| Annual earnings growth | 20 |
P/E = 20.00×; PEG = 1.00 when growth is entered as 20%.
Assumptions and limits
- Share price and earnings per share use the same share basis and reporting convention.
- Earnings per share is positive so the P/E multiple is defined.
- Annual earnings growth is entered as a positive whole percentage, not a decimal fraction.
- The growth assumption is treated as stable for this arithmetic and is not forecast by the calculator.
- P/E and PEG can be misleading when earnings are negative, volatile, cyclical, or measured on different periods.
- Accounting choices, risk, interest rates, sector comparisons, taxes, and investment suitability are not modeled.
