Formula and methodology
Formula: Approximate entropy = password length x log2(enabled alphabet size).
At least one character from every enabled set is inserted, then the complete result is shuffled. Browser cryptographic randomness is used when available.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Password length — minimum 4; maximum 128
- Lowercase letters — 2 choices
- Uppercase letters — 2 choices
- Digits — 2 choices
- Symbols — 2 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Password length | 16 |
| Lowercase letters | yes |
| Uppercase letters | yes |
| Digits | yes |
| Symbols | yes |
A 16-character password uses all four enabled character groups.
Assumptions and limits
- The generated value is shown only in the local page result.
- Entropy is an alphabet-size estimate, not a guarantee against guessing or reuse.
