Formula and methodology
Formula: OBP = (hits + walks + hit-by-pitches) / (at-bats + walks + hit-by-pitches + sacrifice flies).
On-base percentage counts the listed ways a batter reaches base and divides them by the corresponding official opportunities. The denominator is allowed to include walks and hit-by-pitches even when at-bats are zero.
