Formula and methodology
Formula: Solve tanθ = 2cotβ(M₁²sin²β − 1)/(M₁²(γ + cos2β) + 2) for the first weak root β, then apply normal-shock relations to Mₙ₁ = M₁sinβ.
An oblique shock is not the same as a normal shock: only the velocity component normal to the shock enters the normal-shock ratios. This page solves the weak attached branch and keeps the shock angle visible.
