Formula and methodology
Formula: Frequency = reference A4 × 2^[(MIDI note − 69)/12]; MIDI octave = floor(note/12) − 1.
The formula spaces twelve semitones evenly across an octave and anchors note 69 to A4. Changing the reference frequency models a different tuning reference without changing the equal-temperament intervals.
