Formula and methodology
Formula: SMA at position t = (xₜ₋w+1 + … + xₜ)/w.
Each output average uses the current value and the preceding window values, preserving the order of the entered sequence.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Sequence values — Enter comma-separated finite numbers.
- Window size — minimum 1; maximum 100
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Sequence values | 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 |
| Window size | 3 |
Moving averages = 12, 14, 16; latest = 16.
Assumptions and limits
- Values are ordered observations and the window is a positive integer.
- Only complete windows are returned.
- No weighting, smoothing optimization, missing-value imputation, or forecast claim is made.
