Formula and methodology
Formula: Total mass = item count × mass per item; face value = item count × value per item; value density = face value ÷ total mass when total mass is positive.
Currency objects differ by country, denomination, material, series, wear, and moisture. This estimator therefore asks for the unit mass instead of embedding a national coin or banknote table, while the currency selector changes only the displayed label.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Number of identical items — minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
- Face value per item — currency units; minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
- Mass of one item — g; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
- Currency label — 16 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Number of identical items | 100 |
| Face value per item | 1 |
| Mass of one item | 6.5 |
| Currency label | USD |
Total mass =650 g; face value =USD 100; value density ≈USD 153.846 per kg.
Assumptions and limits
- Every item has the same entered face value and mass.
- The currency choice is a display label only and does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
- The unit mass should come from the actual currency specification or a measured sample of the items being counted.
- Face value is not market value, exchange value, collector value, or legal tender advice.
- Packaging, wrappers, dirt, moisture, clips, wallets, and scale error are outside the item-mass model.
- Zero items produce zero mass and zero face value; value density is reported as not applicable when total mass is zero.
- The result is suitable for a rough planning estimate and not a bank verification or transport limit.
