Formula and methodology
Formula: Approximate APR percentage = money factor × 2400; approximate money factor = APR percentage / 2400.
Lease offers often quote a money factor rather than an annual percentage rate. This page uses the common 2400 approximation as a comparison aid and keeps the original convention visible. It is not a legal APR calculation and does not include taxes, fees, residual-value risk, or a lender's disclosure method.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Conversion direction — 2 choices
- Entered rate or money factor — Enter a percentage APR in the first mode, or a decimal money factor such as 0.002 in the second mode.; minimum 0; maximum 1000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Conversion direction | aprToMoneyFactor |
| Entered rate or money factor | 4.8 |
An entered 4.8% APR-like rate corresponds to an approximate money factor of 0.002; the reverse direction returns about 4.8%.
Assumptions and limits
- APR is entered as a percentage such as 4.8, not as a decimal 0.048.
- Money factor is entered as a decimal such as 0.002, not as 0.2 percent.
- The 2400 relationship is used as an approximation for comparison.
- The conversion does not reconstruct a lease payment or verify the dealer's calculation.
- Taxes, fees, capitalized cost, residual value, mileage, and down payment are outside this converter.
- The same nominal convention is used in both directions.
- An APR shown in a contract may include disclosures or charges that this simple relationship does not capture.
- The tool does not recommend a lease or compare affordability.
- The visitor must confirm the rate definition and units with the leasing company.
