Formula and methodology
Formula: Water mass = wet mass − dry mass; wet-basis moisture = water ÷ wet mass × 100; dry-basis moisture = water ÷ dry mass × 100.
The same sample can have different moisture percentages depending on the denominator. This page displays both bases so the reported number cannot be detached from its definition.
