Formula and methodology
Formula: Idealized adjusted time = reference time × reference wattage ÷ actual wattage; estimated delivered energy = actual wattage × adjusted time/3600 in watt-hours.
The calculator gives a first-pass time adjustment when a package or recipe assumes one oven rating and the visitor has another. It is a power-ratio estimate, not a food-safety timer: food mass, shape, moisture, starting temperature, cavity behavior, stirring, standing time, and the manufacturer’s instructions still control the actual result.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- The two wattages are comparable rated cooking-power values, not input power from a wall meter.
- The reference and actual ovens transfer energy with the same effective efficiency for this simple ratio.
- Heating time is scaled inversely with rated power, so a lower-wattage oven produces a longer estimate.
- The energy result is an arithmetic estimate of rated power multiplied by time, not a measurement of absorbed food energy.
- The tool does not infer food temperature, doneness, internal temperature, or a safe standing time.
- Follow the food label, recipe, appliance manual, and applicable food-safety guidance before serving.
- Do not use the result to operate a damaged oven or to heat containers that are not microwave-safe.
