Formula and methodology
Formula: Total labor hours = workers × hours per worker; labor productivity = output / total labor hours; hours per output unit = total labor hours / output when output is positive; hours needed for target = target output / productivity when productivity is positive.
This page measures output against entered labor hours and estimates the hours needed for a target at the same observed rate. It is a planning ratio, not a judgment of worker quality or a complete productivity analysis; output quality, skills, equipment, interruptions, and working conditions remain outside the arithmetic.

Assumptions and limits
- Workers and hours describe the same production period and activity.
- Output is measured consistently between the observed and target scenarios.
- The target scenario uses the observed average productivity without improvement or deterioration.
- All entered labor hours are treated equally in the simple ratio.
- Output quality, rework, defects, waiting, training, and nonlabor inputs are not separately modeled.
- The result does not measure wages, labor law, performance ratings, or individual worker productivity.
- Fractional workers or hours are allowed as planning averages.
- A zero output produces no finite output-per-hour rate and is rejected for this model.
- Use local operational definitions when comparing teams, sites, countries, or time periods.
