Formula and methodology
Formula: Solve payment = principal x r / (1-(1+r)^-n) for monthly r; nominal annual = 12r; effective annual = (1+r)^12-1.
A bounded binary search solves the nonlinear rate instead of claiming that simple interest division is an APR.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Principal — minimum 0.01; maximum 1000000000000
- Monthly payment — minimum 0.01; maximum 1000000000000
