Formula and methodology
Formula: Income elasticity = midpoint percentage change in quantity demanded ÷ midpoint percentage change in income.
Income elasticity describes the relationship between a change in income and a change in quantity demanded. The calculator uses the midpoint method so the before and after observations share one symmetric percentage-change convention, then adds a plain-language interpretation of the entered interval.
