Formula and methodology
Formula: Average = (Listening + Reading + Writing + Speaking) ÷ 4; overall band = average rounded to the nearest whole or half band.
The four IELTS component bands are averaged and then reported on the IELTS 0–9 scale. Keeping the unrounded average visible makes quarter-band rounding easier to check.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

- An institution, employer, or immigration authority may set its own minimum section and overall requirements.
