Formula and methodology
Formula: Weighted grade = sum(score_i * weight_i) / sum(weight_i).
Each component contributes its score multiplied by its share of the total entered weight. Normalizing by the weight sum lets you enter percentages, points, or other relative weights consistently. The contribution table shows the percentage points added by each component and makes mismatched weighting easier to spot.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Component scores (%) — 1-1,000 comma- or whitespace-separated scores from 0 to 100.
- Matching relative weights — One nonnegative weight per score, in the same order. Weights can total any positive number; each is at most 1,000,000.
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Component scores (%) | 80, 90, 100 |
| Matching relative weights | 20, 30, 50 |
93%
Assumptions and limits
- Scores must be between 0 and 100; extra-credit scores above 100 are not supported.
- Score and weight lists must be the same length, with at most 1,000 items and 32,000 characters each.
- Weights are nonnegative and at least one is positive. Omitted components are excluded, not silently scored zero; include a zero score if that is your intention.
