Formula and methodology
Formula: The selected convention maps each supported letter to a number and adds the included values. Hebrew standard values use א=1 through י=10, tens through ק=100, ר=200, ש=300, ת=400, with final forms sharing their base values. Reduced systems repeatedly add digits until a single digit remains; English reverse values assign Z=1 and A=26.
Gematria is a family of letter-number conventions rather than one universal equation. This calculator names the selected convention, shows how many letters were included, and does not turn a numerical coincidence into a claim about meaning or prediction.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Word or phrase — Enter Hebrew or English text; spaces and punctuation are ignored.
- Maximum characters to process — characters; minimum 1; maximum 10000
- Letter-value convention — 5 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Word or phrase | אב |
| Maximum characters to process | 10000 |
| Letter-value convention | hebrew-standard |
א + ב = 1 + 2 = 3 under the Hebrew standard convention; spaces and unsupported characters would be excluded.
Assumptions and limits
- Only the supported alphabet for the selected convention contributes to the total.
- Spaces, punctuation, emoji, digits, and unsupported scripts are ignored and counted separately.
- Hebrew final forms ך ם ן ף ץ share their standard base values in this record.
- English ordinal values are case-insensitive and use A=1 through Z=26.
- English reverse values use Z=1 through A=26.
- Reduced values apply repeated digit reduction to each letter value before summing.
- The output is a convention-based arithmetic total, not a translation or interpretation.
- Different traditions may use different alphabets, transliterations, final-letter rules, or reduction methods.
- No database of words, religious texts, names, or predictions is consulted.
- The page should be used respectfully as a transparent educational or historical calculation.
- The maximum-character control bounds the amount of text processed in one calculation.
