Formula and methodology
Formula: Faceoff win percentage = faceoffs won / (faceoffs won + faceoffs lost).
This rate describes the share of recorded faceoffs won by a player. It uses only the entered wins and losses, so an incomplete or differently coded event log should not be treated as a full season statistic.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Faceoffs won — minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
- Faceoffs lost — minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Faceoffs won | 18 |
| Faceoffs lost | 12 |
Faceoff win percentage is 0.600, or 60.00%.
Assumptions and limits
- Wins and losses are complete, mutually exclusive counts from one sample.
- Every recorded faceoff has exactly one winner and one loser.
- Zone, score state, opponent, and special-teams context are not modeled.
