Formula and methodology
Formula: Gross area = length×width; net area = gross−excluded area; order area = net×(1+waste/100); boxes = ceiling(order area/box coverage).
This page separates measured floor area from the package coverage printed for the chosen product. The waste allowance is visible and adjustable, while room layout, plank direction, pattern matching, transitions, stairs, and installer requirements remain outside the simple quantity model.

Assumptions and limits
- The room is represented by one rectangle and excluded area is the combined area that will not receive the selected flooring.
- Box coverage is the installed coverage stated by the product rather than nominal board area.
- Irregular rooms, cuts, seams, pattern matching, thresholds, stairs, defects, acclimation, and manufacturer installation instructions are not modeled.
