Formula and methodology
Formula: Basic EPS = (net income − preferred dividends) ÷ weighted-average common shares outstanding.
Basic earnings per share expresses the period’s earnings available to common shareholders on a per-share basis. The denominator is a weighted average rather than necessarily the ending share count, and the basic calculation does not model dilution from options, convertibles, or other potentially common shares.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
