Formula and methodology
Formula: Converted energy = value x joules per source unit / joules per target unit.
Energy values are converted through the joule, keeping electrical and thermal units in one auditable base. One watt-hour is 3600 joules and one kilowatt-hour is 3.6 million joules; a food kilocalorie is 4184 joules. Energy is not power: a watt-hour describes accumulated energy, while a watt describes a rate.
