Formula and methodology
Formula: For a 100 g basis, relative moles = mass percentage / atomic mass; divide by the smallest relative-mole amount and multiply by the smallest integer that gives whole-number subscripts.
This calculator converts a mass-percent composition into the simplest whole-number atom ratio. It uses a bounded atomic-mass table and accepts only ratios that resolve clearly within the stated integer search; it does not guess an unresolved formula.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- The entered values are positive mass percentages for distinct elements and total 100% within 0.1 percentage points.
- The supported atomic-mass table supplies standard approximate atomic weights and the composition is treated on a 100 g sample basis.
- Multipliers from 1 through 12 and a small rounding tolerance are searched; an unresolved ratio is rejected rather than rounded to a guessed formula.
