Formula and methodology
Formula: Expected score = 1/(1 + 10^((opponent rating − player rating)/400)); new rating = old rating + K(result − expected score).
The update changes a rating more when the entered result differs from the result implied by the rating gap.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
